Censorship or Self Policing?

One of the fundamental elements of successful story telling is to base it upon truthfulness. That requires homework before you massage it, distort it or display it as hyperbole. Confirm the underlying accuracy of your sources, research your line of reasoning and then present your post to the world. This will help keep you credible as an author.

Doesn't one of the biblical Ten Commandments, and one the atheists Ten Suggestions, offer something about not bearing false witness and being truthful? (They are links).

This is Hazardous to Your Credibility SL

When the Political Brief author S.L. Bradish, was caught deliberately spreading bigotry and hate through her incendiary posts using unconfirmed sources, falsehoods and lies, she was taken to task for her behavior. And asked to defend them, she wouldn't do it. She disappeared for a brief period. Then she reappeared to post a moving heart grabber and then riding upon what she hoped was a wave of blind sympathy, she tried to stuff a flurry of half baked lies down our throats. Including this one, entitled, "Barak Hussein Obama," defaming this setting Senator.

Eventually, I left a comment in following vein:

SL, you prefaced this inflammatory post with the following,
This was sent to me by one of the Footlighters who investigates items like this.
suggesting that the information had been substantiated, and It wasn't.

After finding out that your source wasn't credible,
Whether the forward I posted is accurate or not, I really don't know.
you still insist that we should still believe it as reliable.

That's a bit more than over the top SL, that's scrapping the bottom of the barrel, and when you do this under the banner of America, our flag, you insult and denigrate all we supposedly stand for as citizens of this country.

Further you discredit your professed Christian faith with blatant lies.

So, my question is this:

"As a community, how far should we take self policing?"

You know in the real world she would be sacked for this.

Bigoted, racists and complete lies.

Unfortunately - or naturally, whatever way you wish - each time you do this it only makes others want to look at her blog to see what the fuss is about. You are only maintaining the infamy. In the same way as "tsk tsk" stories about nasty little hollywood sluts only makes their fame greater.
Ignorance, disregard, is the quickest killer of such things. If it were not then our society would have completely self destructed shortly after the introduction of the world wide web of lies we call the internet.
You seem to have made this person your mission, your enemy. I suggest there are few quicker ways to oblivion - a matter which ought also to be much higher on the American agenda of self doubt than it is at present.

Actually I agree with most of what you say, Grumpy, the only exception being:

You seem to have made this person your mission, your enemy.

She isn't my enemy, nor am I making it my mission to attempt any rehabilitative miracle work on her behalf; I honestly don't care.

What is of paramount concern to me is exactly what I said it was, and is contained in the body of this post.

However, I won't be indulging her with further covert attention, negative or otherwise. Your point on that issue is well taken.

I must speak to you about my wages. Have never been able to make much cents out of it.

Like the American flag and grumpy's guest appearance.

EEH....Its a hard one Raven,
I believe we should be smart enough little cookies to say 'live and let live' whatever floats your boat. But unfortunately, to float the boats of some there has to be the taking away of human rights, living as if animals have none, and extending yourself beyond what is useful. Ive often thought if people could USE drugs rather than ABUSE them we wouldnt have a drug problem in any country.
But the vast amount of humans seem unable to rule themselves at all - I mean, I get it, Ive got an ID too, but it usually just influences me into another beer or spending another $50, very rarely does it encourage me to impinge the rights of others, or force unproved opinions down the throats of an already(blindly) swallowing public. If it does happen, I think to myself, "My thats a bit wrong. Of course, wrong has its place, but nows not a great time to weild it, so shut the fuck up, ID"
How far should we go? That depends on the act. The city siders shooting each other for dogs peeing on the lawn needs some serious perspective, honestly, I think a little pee can be let go(even if it is on your prize azaleas) but when it comes to direct crimes, well, have at em, Raven!

Oddly enough kleo, I want people to speak their minds and express opposing view points if they have them. But I also want them to OWN their thoughts and opinions. Raven
